Untitled Rant

"Feminism is a weak ideology," he told me.

Ha! I thought to myself. Like your ideas of classical political philosophy are not. Why do you insist to look to the Greeks and Romans as a source of truth. At least my feminist ideology has room to grow, your political philosophies died along with the Roman Empire.

Besides, who are you, as a man who knows nothing of what it is like to be a woman, a woman of color, a struggling woman of color, a struggling woman of color in a private liberal academic classroom—who are YOU to tell me feminism is weak.
Do you know what feminism even means. I don't mean the book definition of the term—that generic description is weak, isolated from the real-life reasons why people become feminists. I mean, as my partner, do you know what feminism means to me?

Of course this response took place only in my head.

"I think at a deeper level," he continued. Deeper, eh. Deeper. Like your attempt to place yourself on some political continuum is deep? What good is it to say, "Oh no sir, I'm not a Democrat, I am a moderate political conservatist with a dash of liberalism." Tell me, I ask, what good is that?

You mock me every step of the way, crumbling emerging ideas with your white male, masculinist philosophies—and yet, you say you are a deeper thinker?

I will not defend feminism nor sway you towards feminist thinking. That is something you need to discover for yourself—because feminism is a journey that connects the mind, heart, and soul. All I got to say is that feminist men are always pretty hot.

I feel like you read my mind, especially with that last sentence. The only problem is that I don't have the same patience as you with that kind of people, but hats off to you...
