Ice on Mars and Sun-Raaaaaaaaa!

"So if you don't know now you know"
they've finally found it...

Ice on Mars!

This discovery, coupled with
my recent fixation/you-tubing
of this mystic of a man
inspired me to share with you all

Sun Ra

"born Herman Poole Blount
Sun Ra claimed that he was of the 'Angel Race'
not from Earth
but from Saturn
Sun Ra developed a complex persona
of "cosmic" philosophies
and lyrical poetry that made him
a pioneer of afrofuturism
as he preached awareness
and peace above all"

Sun Ra's got some pretty (rad)ical music, and although his audience may be limited due to the nature of his work, his perspective on Black culture should not be discredited.

Any thoughts?

I watched this film a few years ago. I don't remember it all--just that it was TIGHT. The part you've got here: 'I'm not real. I don't exist. Just like you don't exist in this society. I give you myth.' Okay, I'm paraphrasing, but that hits on SO many levels. Tied in with sci-fi/ fantasy, rooted in a cultural legacy of story-telling, telling truths about society.

Heck yeah, Sun-Ra. HECK yeah.
